Interested in Serving on PineCone's Board of Directors?PineCone is currently seeking candidates to join our all-volunteer board to help guide the ogranization in the coming years. We are especially looking for enthusiastic, conscientious folks with experience in accounting, law, fundraising, or a background in traditional music, but we will consider all interested candidates. If you can contribute your time, thoughtfulness, and leadership, and are interested in exploring this opportunity, you can download the Board Member Job Description and Questionnaire. Please mail completed questionnaires to PineCone, PO Box 28534, Raleigh, NC 27611, or e-mail your responses to our office. Completed questionnaires will be kept on file in the office, and volunteers will be contacted as board vacancies occur. Board meetings are usually every other second Monday from 7 p.m. to about 9 p.m., with occasional longer meetings to focus on special areas of development. Regular attendance at board meetings is required, although we understand that conflicts are sometimes unavoidable. PineCone's Mission: PineCone is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to preserving, presenting, and promoting traditional music, dance, and other folk performing arts. PineCone was formed in 1984 and is considered the largest and most active traditional music organization in the state, with a reputation for presenting the very best in all the varied forms that make up traditional music. Each year PineCone presents 125-150 events, with approximately 100 that are free to the public. PineCone programs include: five different concert series presenting the finest national, international, and regional traditional musicians; monthly participatory music sessions in bluegrass, Irish, and shape-note music; the PineCone Bluegrass Show, a weekly radio program on 94.7 WQDR (every Sunday 6-9 p.m.); a monthly newsletter for PineCone members; a staffed office to coordinate PineCone events and to serve as a community resource. |
