Downtown Raleigh is home to large corporate headquarters, courthouses, restaurants, rock clubs, coffee shops, state, county and city government offices. Each Fall, PineCone transforms the downtown into the site for IBMA Bluegrass Live! powered by PNC, the “world’s largest bluegrass festival.” The city is widely known as the “City of Oaks.” Its population of 469,000 (2021) makes it the second largest city in North Carolina, after Charlotte.
