ANNOUNCEMENT: Piney Woods Boys to open Doc Watson @100 Celebration with The Kruger Brothers

The Piney Woods Boys open our night of celebration on March 3rd, what would have been Doc Watson’s 100th Birthday. The band specializes in early Watson Family tunes including those of Doc Watson’s father in law Gaither Carlton.

As of 01/27/23 this show is SOLD OUT.

The show is in the luxuriously comfortable AJ Fletcher Opera Theater in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Raleigh. There is not a bad seat in the house.

If you call PineCone at 919-664-8333 we can help you avoid ticketmaster fees. You can also purchase tickets online here. There you’ll see if any tickets have been returned for release.

There’s more information here.

In the liner notes to one of the Watson Family records Doc credited the Piney Woods Boys’ banjo player Jim Collier as his source for the tune “Cold Frosty Morning.” Listen to the tune, and hear the story in the above video.
