Graham Sharp

Americana, Bluegrass

Graham Sharp is best known as the primary singer and songwriter for the band The Steep Canyon Rangers. His deep baritone, insightful lyrics and smoking banjo chops helped make the Rangers a sought after festival band and a PineCone favorite.

Around the time the pandemic hit and shut the music world down Graham launched a solo project. He released the album “Truer Picture” on the Hillsborough based Yep Roc Records. “The title of my new album may be misleading, because I feel like there’s nothing false out the 16 or so albums (The Steep Canyon Rangers) made together,” Graham wrote at the time of the record’s release. “But time apart, a year and counting now, has given me the opportunity to approach the music differently.”

Woody Platt, Graham’s friend and bandmate of 20+ years, wrote of the album, “…this project is raw, diverse, and wonderful: simple in the most perfect way.”

No Depression Magazine wrote that the album “…gives us a glimpse of the depth of Sharp’s songwriting and artistry that we don’t often get to see when he’s playing with Steep Canyon Rangers. We can hope that Sharp has another solo project in mind for us down the road.”

Graham Sharp played songs from the record in an opening set for Fireside Collective as a part of the Down Home Concert Series in 2021.
