Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road Band

Known for her hard-driving mandolin style, Lorraine Jordan is admired by bluegrass aficionados as among the most accomplished bluegrass musicians Eastern North Carolina has produced. Indeed, the awards, nominations, and accolades the Garner resident has received--including the International Bluegrass Music Association's Recorded Event of the Year award in 2006 and 2009, and the first runner-up title at MerleFest's Chris Austin Songwriting Contest, among others--during more than two decades in the music business are a testament to her skills as a bluegrass picker and bandleader.

Born and raised on the North Carolina coast, Jordan is best known for her work with Carolina Road, a group she founded in 1999. Carolina Road's personnel currently includes guitarist Tommy Long, fiddler Josh Goforth, bassist Eddie Biggerstaff, and banjo player Ben Greene. The band maintains a busy touring schedule throughout North America and Europe, with yearly appearances on the Traditional Bluegrass Cruise and at more than 60 festivals annually, including Preddy Fest, the Osborne Brothers Bluegrass Festival, the Bill Monroe Memorial Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival, and the Cherokee Bluegrass Festival. In 2010, Carolina Road signed a record deal with Rural Rhythm Records, and released their most recent album, Carolina Hurricane.

Jordan has also led the Daughters of Bluegrass project, a series of recordings and concerts that serve to highlight and pay homage to female bluegrass musicians throughout the United States. The Daughters of Bluegrass have thus far released Back to the Well and Bluegrass Bouquet, both highly regarded albums.
