Rodney Sutton has been performing and teaching traditional Appalachian step-dance for more than 40 years, first with the two time World Champion Green Grass Cloggers and then as co-founder of the Fiddle Puppets (now known as Footworks). Rodney prides himself on being able to teach anyone Appalachian clogging and flatfooting steps that will turn them into their own percussive dancer and allow them to be a foot drummer to any kind of music! Though you can wear any kind of footwear for this intro class, smooth soled shoes (leather is best) with a low heel are the best shoes for this workshop. Also having a wood floor, or at least a non-carpeted smooth surface, to dance on is important. Rodney will teach an easy basic clogging step and then share ways to improvise with flatfooting steps, all the while sharing stories from his two mentors, Robert Dotson and Willard Watson.
NOTE: This workshop will be recorded and distributed to registered attendees for use as a learning tool. A highlights video will be produced and shared to promote future workshops and events.
You will receive a registration confirmation email with details for joining the workshop. Please be sure that your email address is entered correctly and check your spam or promotions folder if you do not receive the confirmation email. If you are still unable to locate the email confirmation and have not received the reminder email by 5pm the day of the workshop, please call or text Courtney at 919-516-9049.
