Constant Change comes to Raleigh for the summer’s penultimate Pickin’ in the Plaza concert! They are another NC act that has been selected to be one of the 30 showcase artists who are part of this year’s IBMA Bluegrass Ramble. The Williamson Brothers, Tony and Gary, will kick off a night of top-shelf bluegrass in downtown Raleigh’s City Plaza. Before the music starts on-stage, musicians are invited to jam on the plaza from 5-6:30! All levels welcome – FREE and open to the public. AND, Southern String Band will host a pre-show square dance – so make plans to come downtown early (or just stay if you work downtown) and get some square dance practice in before World of Bluegrass returns to Raleigh!

Constant Change  is one of six NC bands who will be part of this year’s Bluegrass Ramble during IBMA’s World of Bluegrass this fall – get a taste of what’s to come at this Pickin’ in the Plaza show! In January of 2002, a group of North Carolina musicians in their twenties met and learned they had a shared passion for bluegrass music. For the first several years the band lived up to its name, as various hot young pickers came and went. But once Brian Aldridge (banjo) and his brother Daniel (mandolin) stepped in to join founding member Clifton Preddy (fiddle), the nucleus of a special band was in place. With Greg Luck and Zak McLamb now in the band, they are surely a group to watch. With their current configuration, the emphasis is more on a “band” sound harkening back to the Bluegrass Album Band era, which helped to define the second generation of bluegrass.

Starting off the night will be The Williamson Brothers, who are bluegrass icons in North Carolina in their own rights. Tony and Gary Williamson perform the old-time style of music that dates back nine generations in central North Carolina. In fact, the title song of their CD My Rocky River Home chronicles the experiences of their great-grandfather, Noah Williamson, a confederate soldier during the Civil War.
