Make PineCone part of your First Friday plan in November! The Carolina PineCones will provide live music during the event. They are planning on doing a lot of their rehearsed band material, but of course, they also love to have jam friends come and join! If any youth (or slightly older…) bluegrass jammers are coming to First Friday, bring your instrument and let them know if you’d like to join the band for a jam tune or two!
The original members of this youth bluegrass band met through PineCone’s youth jams and camps, and the band has since seen members come and go, but their dedication to bluegrass continues unabated. They perform throughout Raleigh and the Triangle area under the mentorship of local musician and band coach Jef Walter. Current band members are Jessie Lang (guitar), Sam Stage (fiddle), Anthony DeCesaris (banjo), and Aidan Buehler (mandolin). Bass player Carter Ramquist is off to Wellsley College this fall, so Jef Walter is also filling in with the band on bass. We will provide light hors d’oeuvres, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages courtesy of Harris Teeter, and beer thanks to Trophy Brewing.
Jane Cheek’s mixed media artwork will be on display, along with Lloyd Konneker’s large, solar, kinnetic sculpture “Lightning Field.” And Chris Chappell’s puppets will also be on display.
Thanks to the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County for hosting us for this event. We look forward to seeing you there!
