Calling all youth musicians who play guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, or bass, and or who enjoy singing! You’re invited to a special First Friday youth jam with other young musicians in the area who enjoy playing the same types of music you do.
These fun, friendly jams provide opportunities for young musicians to get to know each other and learn about bluegrass jamming. This jam will be facilitated by local musician Jef Walter and youth council founding member Sam Stage.
Songs will be determined depending on the skill levels of the students who come to the event. More experienced music students have the option to come prepared with a song to lead, either an instrumental or a singing song where they sing the verses/chorus, preferably with only 3 or 4 chords throughout (for simplicity in teaching) – this is not a requirement to participate.
United Arts is an official First Friday location in the Glenwood South neighborhood. Featuring new works of art in their Marilyn J. Harrison (MJH) gallery each month, United Arts hosts an opening night reception for new exhibits the first Friday of each month except for January and July. The exhibits are curated by Visual Art Exchange in Raleigh.
All are welcome to attend. Contact United Arts at 919-839-1498 if you have any questions.
United Arts is located in the Glenwood South district in the historic Pine State Creamery building known as “The Creamery.”
The entrance and parking lot are on Tucker Street, which crosses Glenwood Avenue.
