Chester, Nova Scotia-based Old Man Luedecke is coming to Raleigh to ring in 2015 at the First Night Raleigh Traditional Stage! With skillful precision and a storyteller’s heart, Luedecke’s narrative-driven folk songs are playful, coy, and soul warming. Rich in metaphor, heart and instrumentation, Tender Is The Night, Luedecke’s most recent album, muses on love, art, and purpose. Luedecke will play three sets, at 7, 8, and 10 p.m.

For the 9 p.m. set, bluegrass band Barefoot Movement will stop by the Traditional Stage for a set! Earlier this year, the band also earned the IBMA’s 2014 Band of the Year Momentum Award. They will also be helping out with this year’s Early Countdown at First Night Raleigh, and they are the same band that closed out the 2014 Midtown Bluegrass Series at North Hills in October in addition to performing during both the 2013 and 2014 Wide Open Bluegrass StreetFests.

First Night Raleigh All Day Passes are on sale now and only cost $10** in advance (**plus local and state sales tax). Your “All Day Pass” grants you access to every performance venue and interactive activity throughout the day. That’s nearly 100 performances in more than three dozen locations across downtown Raleigh! On December 31, on-site sales will be $14* for adults and $11* for children (*including local and state sales tax). Reserve your First Night Raleigh tickets

This year’s First Night Raleigh festivities kick of at 2 p.m. with the Children’s Celebration at NC Museum of History, NC Museum of Natural Sciences and outdoors on the Bicentennial Plaza. Parents can have their children ring in the New Year with the Early Countdown at 7 p.m. Performances at the Main Stage begin earlier than past years, starting at 4 p.m. Later into the night, the streets of Raleigh come alive with performances in over 20 blocks of downtown Raleigh and a First Night tradition, the People’s Procession at 6 p.m.

Patrons will be thrilled as the Fantastical First Night Ferris Wheel returns to Fayetteville Street. And in keeping with this year’s “Out of This World” theme, First Night Raleigh 2015 will also host an “Alien Abduction” ride for festivalgoers to enjoy. Both amusements will open to the public at 2 p.m. on the afternoon of Dec. 31.

In addition, other artists scheduled to appear include: Raleigh’s own The Love Language, African American Dance Ensemble, Amelia Curran, Paperhand Puppet Intervention, The Lang Sisters, PopUp Chorus, Marty O’Reilly & the Old Soul Orchestra, Sonic Escape, Moving Pieces interactive theater, “Out of This World” installation by Greg Carter, Ricardo Granillo Trio, and many more!
