St. Patrick’s Day is just a couple days away, but we know many people will celebrate over the weekend! Make the Irish Jam Session at Tir na nOg a part of your celebrations! Whether you play music yourself, dance, or just want to experience community music-making as an observer, this will be a great afternoon to celebrate Irish culture!
This Sunday, the Irish jam musicians will be joined by members of Inis Cairde School of Irish Dance. The Pub will serve a family style Irish dinner buffet $15 PP $10 for children; kids under 5 years old eat free, and 10% of food sales will go back to support the School. There will be raffle prizes and a grand Irish party so come on down. Donations will also be collected at the door for the dance school. This is a fundraiser to help with the cost of travel and expense for these amazing Irish dancers – they have been chosen to represent the school in The Irish Dance World Championship event. Members of Wake & District Pipes & Drums will also be participating in the afternoon’s festivities as well. Dancers will perform throughout the entire afternoon, with both live and taped music from 3pm until 8.30pm. Checks can be made out to ICPA (Inis Cairde School of Irish Dance Parent Association), a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Donations are tax-deductible – tax receipt will be provided upon request.
The weekly Irish session is always free to the public, and it is open to musicians of all skill levels – participants at the jam range in age from 8 to 80! The session welcomes and encourages singing, dancing, and listening as well. Look for the musicians gathered either in the back left of the pub near the fireplace or in the “Cottage.”
