Concert

Let Jamrock’s music transport you to the tropics for an afternoon during the Memorial Day holiday weekend! Jamrock was founded in 1995 through the desire of a few Jamaicans to hear authentic reggae music, featuring true “yard style” reggae rhythms, reggae standards and an authentic Jamaican sound. Comprised of three Jamaicans as the core of the group, Jamrock is one of the most respected reggae bands in the Triangle area. The success of the group can be attributed to their sound, which reflects the true style of how reggae music is played back in Jamaica. Their repertoire includes all versions of reggae, including lovers’ rock, oldies, dance hall, and roots, in addition to some covers of popular American tunes. Jamrock is Carl Baxter (lead & background vocals), Gerald Mulvaney (lead & background vocals), Dean Irwin (bass, sound), Colin McEwan (management & logistics), Graham Mulvaney (saxaphone), Sylvester Percival (keyboards), Neal Boyke (keyboards), Eric Broadway (drums). Most of the band members are originally from Jamaica; Boyke hails from Trinidad, Percival from Nevis, and Broadway is from Baltimore.

A variety of food and refreshments will be available to purchase at the park during the concerts, or you can bring your own picnic. Confirmed food vendors include:

Pets on leashes are also welcome. Alcohol is not permitted in the park.

Please park in the designated parking lot if space is available. Hundreds of area residents converge on Joyner Park during these popular events to take part in the festivities and enjoy the park’s wonderful amenities. Since parking is sometimes limited, area residents are encouraged to make plans with family members and friends to carpool, walk, or bike to Joyner Park. In addition, visitors should note parking is only permitted in the following areas of Joyner Park:

  • the visitor parking lot
  • in the flat, grassy area at the park’s entrance

For safety reasons, parking is not permitted along the entry road to Joyner Park. Overflow parking is also available at the Cottage at Olde Mill Stream, 901 Barnford Mill Road. View E Carroll Joyner Park parking map

The stage at E. Carroll Joyner Park will be covered again this year, so concerts will not be canceled or moved in case of brief showers. In case of truly inclement weather, concerts will be moved to the Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St. in Wake Forest. The Centre cannot accomodate pets, picnics, or lawn chairs. Vendors will not relocate to the Centre; snacks and drinks can be purchased from the Centre. Updated concert information will be available on Wake Forest TV 10, the Town of Wake Forest Facebook page, PineCone’s Facebook page and PineCone’s Twitter profile, and by calling the Wake Forest Weather Line at 919-435-9569. Smart phone users who have downloaded the Town of Wake Forest app will receive a message informing them of any schedule changes.
