Concert

Experience Lumbee Folklore Stories told in American Sign Language (ASL)! Judy C. Stout is a member of the Lumbee Tribe, reared in Pembroke, N.C. She earned a masters degree in School Guidance from Gallaudet University, and she worked there for 28 years. She provides consultation on education, information, and referrals on Deaf and Hard of Hearing American Indians. Q&A session will follow. This program will include ASL interpreters.

For many years, Stout participated in outreach activities to promote the involvement of different consumer groups in various political and voting processes at the local, state, and national levels. She is among several contributing authors to Step in the Circle by Damara Paris and Sharon Wood and Circle of Unity: Pathways to Improving Outreach to American Indians and Alaska Natives who are Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard of Hearing by Katrina R. Miller. Stout was appointed to serve as a member of the Board of Directors to the North Carolina Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) in August 2017 by Governor Roy Cooper. She is also a member of the Board of Directors with Communication Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CSDHH) in Greensboro.

She is married to Claude L. Stout. She has two adult children, a daughter-in-law, and two grandsons.

The Museum entrance closest to the auditorium is a staircase that leads up to glass doors on Edenton St. A ramp from Edenton St provides access to the Museum’s main entrance. A ramp is also available from Jones St. Wheelchairs for interior use are available free of charge at the Museum information desk.

Large print program notes and assistive listening devices will be available. This concert will also have an ASL interpreter.
