Please note: our final Blue Note jam for 2019 will be held on the second Saturday this month, due to another event at Blue Note on our usual third Saturday date. We hope you’ll still be able to join your fellow musicians in Durham for the monthly bluegrass/Americana/old time jam. Musicians of all skill levels are welcome, but this is not a learning jam – however, it will still provide opportunities to meet other area musicians and to learn how jams work. This summer, we challenged the participants from the PineCone Beginners Bluegrass Jam to check out some other jams in the area – please make sure to help us welcome newcomers to the jam! And listeners are always welcome to observe, too.
The Piedmont region of North Carolina has a vibrant and varied music scene, which the combined bluegrass/old time/Americana jam taps into. This jam typically meets on the third Saturday of every month. There is plenty of space in case musicians want to break out into different groups over the course of the afternoon. We hope that this combined jam will also provide opportunities for musicians to learn about and explore the similarities between these overlapping styles.
