The PineCone Bluegrass Jam is back to meeting twice a month – join in with friends old and new at IMURJ in downtown Raleigh on both the second and fourth Mondays of each month! This jam welcomes all musicians looking for opportunities to play bluegrass music and all fans who want to listen and share in the camaraderie. While the PineCone Bluegrass Jam welcomes musicians of all skill levels to participate, it is not a learning jam (often referred to as a “slow jam” in bluegrass circles). However, beginners are welcome – the jam is a great place for musicians to meet and get to know other bluegrass musicians and to learn how the jam runs. There is also plenty of space to break out into smaller groups as more musicians are discovering this bluegrass jam.
The entrance to IMURJ is on McDowell Street and can be accessed via an elevator or a staircase.
Parking
Street parking is free in downtown Raleigh after 5 p.m., and street parking spaces are available on both Martin and McDowell Streets (IMURJ is located at the corner of Martin and McDowell). If you happen to find a parking space on the street and want to catch a ride to the cafe, you can use the free downtown Raleigh R-Line circulator bus, which runs until 11 p.m. on Monday nights and has stops just a couple blocks from IMURJ.
The closest parking garages are:
- 201 W Morgan St – Municipal Deck – free parking 7pm – 7am
- 436 S Salisbury St – Cabarrus Deck – free parking 7pm – 7am
There is also a flat parking lot, the Salisbury Parking Lot, at 400 S Salisbury St – $3 per space in the evenings.
You can also use a local rickshaw service, like Raleigh Rickshaw or Crank Arm Rickshaw – both are free, with drivers working for tips.
And GoTriangle and GoRaleigh both have buses that stop at or near IMURJ.
