Jam Session

If it’s the fourth Monday of the month, it’s time to grab your instrument and head to the PineCone Bluegrass Jam at IMURJ, a new music venue/cafe/gallery space in downtown Raleigh.

After six years at The Busy Bee, which recently became Trophy Tap & Table, the needs of the jam had changed to the point where PineCone’s jam committee felt the time was right for a new venue for the bluegrass jam. We are so grateful to the folks at Trophy (formerly The Busy Bee) for their many years of support of the jam, and we hope you will continue to patronize them and thank them for their support over the years, and we look forward to the jam’s next chapter.

The jam welcomes all musicians looking for opportunities to play bluegrass music and all fans who want to listen and share in the camaraderie! While the PineCone Bluegrass Jam welcomes musicians of all skill levels to participate, it is not a learning jam (often referred to as a “slow jam” in bluegrass circles). However, beginners are welcome – the jam is a great place for musicians to meet and get to know other bluegrass musicians and to learn how the jam runs.

The entrance to IMURJ is on McDowell Street and can be accessed via an elevator or a staircase.

Parking

Street parking is free in downtown Raleigh after 5 p.m., and street parking spaces are available on both Martin and McDowell Streets (IMURJ is located at the corner of Martin and McDowell). If you happen to find a parking space on the street and want to catch a ride to the cafe, you can use the free downtown Raleigh R-Line circulator bus, which runs until 11 p.m. on Monday nights and has stops just a couple blocks from IMURJ.

The closest parking garages are:

There is also a flat parking lot, the Salisbury Parking Lot, at 400 S Salisbury St – $3 per space in the evenings.

You can also use a local rickshaw service, like Raleigh Rickshaw or Crank Arm Rickshaw – both are free, with drivers working for tips.

And GoTriangle and GoRaleigh both have buses that stop at or near IMURJ.
