PineCone presents and promotes bluegrass in a variety of places, including the PineCone Bluegrass Jam at the Busy Bee Cafe, which takes place on the second and fourth Monday of every month. The jam welcomes all musicians looking for opportunities to play bluegrass music and all fans who want to listen and share in the camaraderie! While the PineCone Bluegrass Jam welcomes musicians of all skill levels to participate, it is not a learning jam (often referred to as a “slow jam” in bluegrass circles). However, beginners are welcome – the jam is a great place for musicians to meet and get to know other bluegrass musicians and to learn how the jam runs.
And please note: the PineCone Bluegrass Jam is on the main level in the Busy Bee Cafe! One of the primary reasons for this is to ensure that the PineCone Bluegrass Jam is available to anyone in the community who wants to attend – hosting the jam upstairs has caused a physical barrier to some members of our community who want to be able to participate, and as an organization, PineCone works to make our programs accessible to all members of the community. We are grateful to the Busy Bee for working with us to move the jam downstairs, and we look forward to continuing to work with musicians and the Busy Bee staff to make sure that all parties involved enjoy the jam.
The PineCone Bluegrass Jam is sponsored by Terrapin Beer Company, which donates $1 to PineCone for every pint of Terrapin Rye Pale Ale sold during the bluegrass jam!
