PineCone is a finalist in the Indy Week’s Best of the Triangle for “Best Place to Hear Bluegrass.” Voting opens again on Monday, April 25, which happens to be the fourth Monday of the month. The PineCone Bluegrass Jam also happens to be at the Busy Bee Cafe on the second and fourth Monday of every month – after you vote for PineCone in the Indy Week’s Best of the Triangle ballot, come out and celebrate with us at just one of the venues where we share the music with the community!
The jam welcomes musicians looking for opportunities to play bluegrass music and fans who want to listen and share in the camaraderie! While the PineCone Bluegrass Jam welcomes musicians of all skill levels to participate, it is not a learning jam (often referred to as a “slow jam” in bluegrass circles). However, beginners are welcome – the jam is a great place for musicians to meet and get to know other bluegrass musicians and to learn how the jam runs.
And please note: the PineCone Bluegrass Jam has moved to the main level in the Busy Bee Cafe! One of the primary reasons for the move is to ensure that the PineCone Bluegrass Jam is accessible to anyone in the community who wants to attend – hosting the jam upstairs has caused a physical barrier to some members of our community who want to be able to participate, and as an organization, PineCone works to make our programs accessible to all members of the community. We are grateful to the Busy Bee for working with us to move the jam downstairs, and we look forward to continuing to work with musicians and the Busy Bee staff to make sure that all parties involved enjoy the jam.
The PineCone Bluegrass Jam is sponsored by Terrapin Beer Company, which donates $1 to PineCone for every pint of Terrapin Rye Pale Ale sold during the bluegrass jam!
