In between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, there is one more PineCone Bluegrass Jam for 2015 at the Busy Bee Cafe! Bluegrass musicians and fans are all welcome to share some extended holiday cheer whil sharing their love of bluegrass at the Busy Bee. While the PineCone Bluegrass Jam welcomes musicians of all skill levels to participate, it is not a learning jam (often referred to as a “slow jam” in bluegrass circles). However, beginners are welcome – the jam is a great place for musicians to meet and get to know each other and to learn how the jam runs.
And please note: the PineCone Bluegrass Jam has moved to the main level in the Busy Bee Cafe! One of the primary reasons for the move is to ensure that the PineCone Bluegrass Jam is accessible to anyone in the community who wants to attend – hosting the jam upstairs has caused a physical barrier to some members of our community who want to be able to participate, and as an organization, PineCone strives to make our programs accessible to all members of the community. Feedback from our first jam on the main level was great overall, and that “The sound was good and more people could see the musicians with the layout of the room.” Plus, some folks saw and heard the jam who never had before, and hadn’t even realized it had been at the Busy Bee for five years, and they’re looking forward to coming back for more bluegrass!
We are grateful to the Busy Bee for working with us to move the jam downstairs, and we look forward to continuing to work with musicians and the Busy Bee staff to make sure that all parties involved enjoy the jam. If you have feedback about the change in location, please call us at 919-664-8333, or e-mail Jamie Katz Court (communications -at- pinecone.org) with any comments, suggestions, or observations.
The PineCone Bluegrass Jam is sponsored by Terrapin Beer Company, which donates $1 to PineCone for every pint of Terrapin Rye Pale Ale sold during the bluegrass jam!
