The next PineCone concert isn’t until December, but that’s no reason not to get out and enjoy live music now! If it’s the fourth Monday of the month, you can catch bluegrass musicians jamming at the Busy Bee Cafe, and the jam is now on the main level of the restaurant! One of the primary reasons for the move is to ensure that the PineCone Bluegrass Jam is accessible to anyone in the community who wants to attend – hosting the jam upstairs has caused a physical barrier to some members of our community who want to be able to participate, and as an organization, PineCone strives to make our programs accessible to all members of the community. Feedback from our first jam on the main level was great overall, and some folks saw and heard the jam who never had before, and hadn’t even realized it had been at the Busy Bee for five years; now, they’re looking forward to coming back for more bluegrass!
We are grateful to the Busy Bee for working with us to move the jam downstairs, and we look forward to continuing to work with musicians and the Busy Bee staff to make sure that all parties involved enjoy the jam. While the PineCone Bluegrass Jam welcomes musicians of all skill levels to participate, it is not a learning jam (often referred to as a “slow jam” in bluegrass circles). However, beginners are welcome – the jam is a great place for musicians to meet and get to know each other and to learn how the jam runs. And listeners are welcome to come out and enjoy the music and camaraderie, too!
