Calling all youth musicians who play guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, or bass, and or who enjoy singing! You’re invited to our second youth jam in Durham with other young musicians in the area who enjoy playing the same types of music you do.
These fun, friendly jams will continue to include some skill building, and will also provide opportunities for young musicians to meet each other and learn about bluegrass jamming. This jam will be co-facilitated by fiddle player Sam Stage and bass player Jef Walter.
Songs will be determined depending on the skill levels of the students who come to the event. More experienced music students have the option to come prepared with a song to lead, either an instrumental or a singing song where they sing the verses/chorus, preferably with only 3 or 4 chords throughout (for simplicity in teaching) – this is not a requirement to participate.
All are welcome to relax and enjoy a treat at the Locopops Dessert Cafe during the jam. (Do bluegrass tunes make popsicles, ice cream, baked goods and coffee taste even better? Find out at the jam!)
