Calling all youth musicians who play guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and bass! You’re invited to jam with other young musicians in the area who enjoy playing the same types of music you do!
Several members of the Carolina PineCones youth band will be on hand to jam, and young bluegrass players of all skill levels are welcome to join in. This will be a great opportunity to share music with other young musicians, and a little bit of a “sneak peak” at what Jam Camp will be like in Cary, July 25-29. Please let us know if you have any jam-related questions!
The featured song at this jam will be “Blackberry Blossom,” in honor of the Piedmont Picnic Project’s Blackberry Brigade event, which is generously hosting this jam!! The song will be introduced and played in the key of G, and anyone who’s unfamiliar with this one will have the chance to learn it then.
This song uses a similar chord structure to the “one, four, five” chord songs that the group has been learning, except it adds one extra chord, the flat seven chord (like “High on a Mountain,” which was introduced at a youth jam back in April). So in the key of G, the one, four, and five are G, C, and D, and the flat seven is an F chord.
Participants are also encouraged to bring a prepared song to sing and/or play with the group, but this is not required for participation.
