Join PineCone and the Town of Cary for a special night of music featuring the Snyder Family Band and students from the PineCone Bluegrass Music Camp! The Snyder Family Band showcases the talents of 17 year-old Zeb Snyder on guitar & mandolin and his sister, 14-year-old Samantha, on fiddle. Their father, Bud, backs them up on upright bass. Their mother, Laine, occasionally joins them for some three-part harmonies, and their younger brother, 7-year-old Owen Snyder, is also learning to sing and play bluegrass guitar. And they’ve recently released a new album, Building Bridges, which includes 12 original songs, 11 of which were written by either Samantha or Zeb. (The twelth song, “Old Timer,” was co-written by Terry Foust, Dicky Minor and Zeb.) The siblings’ creativity brings together a collection of tunes that compliments the band’s signature sound and expresses their appreciation for multiple genres.
The camp includes students ages 8-16 learning guitar, fiddle, mandolin, and songwriting. Charles Pettee of the Shady Grove Band will teach the beginner and intermediate mandolin tracks, Jan Johansson will teach beginner and intermediate guitar tracks, Pattie Hopkins of Kickin Grass will instruct the students in the beginner and intermediate fiddle tracks, and Kickin Grass leader Lynda Dawson will teach songwriting! This concert is the culmination of the week-long camp, but we hope it is only the beginning for this next generation of musicians! Please note: the bluegrass camp students will begin performing at 6:30; The Snyder Family Band will take the stage after the student performances.
