Willow is demonstrating William Marion Reece’s “Cumberland Gap.” It’s a hard-driving G-tune from the North Carolina mountains.

Marion Reece was a fife player, fiddler, fiddle-maker, and blacksmith from Zionville, North Carolina. Marion is featured in 12 field recording tracks recorded by John Lomax in 1936, only three years before Reece’s death.

Willow Keasler grew up in the Watauga County, NC Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) program. She has a BA in Music from Warren Wilson College.
