PineCone Youth Council Members to Perform at Earl Scruggs Center


In 2014, Eliza Meyer earned 1st place at Mt. Airy Fiddlers' Convention in the Youth Folksong competition. She was backed on banjo by Liam Purcell, also pictured.The Lang Sisters (Chloe & Jessica)Shady Oak Ramblers will kick of fthe evening playing traditional and gospel bluegrass. Then, sit back and enjoy as we celebrate the tradition of bluegrass music as it is passed generation to generation by showcasing the talents of young musicians, including PineCone Youth Council Members The Lang Sisters (Chloe & Jessica), Eliza Meyer, and Liam Purcell, and more! The event will wrap up with the featured youth band the Back Creek Bluegrass Boys. Learn more

In addition to performances, youth musicians are invited to jam around the square during the event as well. Plus, lemonade, cookies, face painting, and crafts for the kids will be available around the square!

During a conversation among staff at the Earl Scruggs Center about the homeschool community and the fact that so many of them are musicians that come through the Center, and the formation of the PineCone Youth Council, the idea for an event showcasing future artists and musicians came together.
