Raleigh Convention Center Sales Director to Attend Leadership Bluegrass in March

The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) has announced its Leadership Bluegrass Class of 2016, and among this year's class is Raleigh's own Laurie Okun, Sales Director for the Raleigh Convention Center.

StreetFest Moving Inside Raleigh Convention Center

In addition to Wednesday's announcement that the ticketed portion of the weekend will be moved indoors to the Convention Center, organizers confirmed on Thursday morning that the main components of the StreetFest will also move indoors, including all of the music stages and the vendors from the Got to be NC, Arts Market, and Shop Local Raleigh sections of the festival. The NC Pork Council's Barbecue Experience Dinners will also be hosted inside the Convention Center.

PNC presents Wide Open Bluegrass Main Stage Moving Indoors to Raleigh Convention Center Exhibit Hall

The ticketed portion of this weekend's Wide Open Bluegrass festival will be moved from the Red Hat Amphitheater into the Raleigh Convention Center in Exhibit Halls A & B. All current Red Hat Amphitheater tickets will be honored. In addition, the local organizing committee, in partnership with the IBMA, has a contingency plan for all free performances to move indoors to the Raleigh Convention Center, along with all vendors and other festival activities, if the current weather forecast holds. Organizers finalized the plans this afternoon and will make a final call tomorrow morning by 10 a.m. whether to implement the plan.

WUNC to Incorporate More Bluegrass during IBMA's World of Bluegrass in Raleigh

In honor of IBMA's World of Bluegrass, WUNC will be mixing up the music played coming in and out of news reports and interviews.  For the week of September 28, bluegrass will be the focus of the music listeners hear on popular programs like Morning Edition, The State of Things, and All Things Considered.
