Concert

Burlington, North Carolina’s Dewey and Leslie Brown are a power couple with bluegrass talent who bring together the sounds of Ralph Stanley mixed with Hazel Dickens. Fiddle player Dewey Brown has a long legacy in bluegrass. He played alongside Dr. Ralph Stanley until Stanley’s passing in 2016. Leslie Brown grew up as a clogger in the coal mining town of Vansant, Virginia, which has played a significant role in her songwriting, dancing, and singing. She writes most of the material that the band performs. Since 2016, Dewey & Leslie have been performing with the Carolina Gentlemen, a sharp dressing band of players that play tight, straight ahead bluegrass. Along with Dewey & Leslie, the band features the talents of Tim Spence (guitar), Brandon Henson (banjo), and Kendall Gales (mandolin). Dewey and Leslie currently own The Liberty Showcase Theater in Liberty, North Carolina. They also run two festivals, “Deweyfest” and “Gospelfest.” The band is currently working on releasing a new CD called Jealousy.

Noon Tunes is presented by The Raleigh Convention + Performing Arts Complex in partnership with Downtown Raleigh Alliance.
