Tony Trischka appears on WRAL-TV

“Earl Scruggs is at the center of what I do,” said banjo legend Tony Trischka to WRAL-TV in advance of his performance at Raleigh’s Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts. The concert is part of PineCone’s 2024 Down Home Concert Season. It celebrates the music of North Carolina’s Earl Scruggs who was born 100 years ago this month in Shelby.

“I’ve been playing for over 60 years and I’m still excited about playing the banjo,” said Tony Trischka. “It’s got its hooks in me and I continually find new inspiration from it… …at the moment I’m really excited about Earl Scruggs and these recordings he did with a gentlemen named John Hartford… …I will be bringing some of those jam sessions to life on Friday night.”

The concert is Friday, January 26th in the AJ Fletcher Opera Theater in downtown Raleigh. You can find more information and tickets here.
